I am in my late 30s, living north of Dallas. I am a Lecturer in Japanese History at the University of North Texas.
My wife Jenifer and I have three kids. All three are adopted, they all went very smoothly. However, we are recovering from a year-long experience of an adoption of a baby girl that ultimately did not go through because the birth father opposed it. She was with us for a year. But very soon afterwards we were able to welcome #3, a newborn boy. He is only two months old, and is doing great.

We have lived for several years in Japan, and we still spend June and July there every year. We are raising our kids bilingually, and since neither of us are native Japanese speakers it is good for the kids to spend some time immersed in the language (thier school is in session until the end of July). So I will occasionally post from there.
I was assistant list moderator for Jonathan Langford for a year back in 2002 or so while I was in Japan. He would sometimes write about a list problem, and I would reply with an idea while on the other side of the world he slept. It was nice to be able to have that 12-hour separation, it felt like the other person could solve things while you slept.

I had read some Mormon literature as a kid. My parents were in lots of Mormon book groups, and they occasionally read the early stuff in the 1970s, like Thayer and Marshall. At BYU my then-fiance took Eugene England's Mormon literature class, and I sat in a couple of times. That got me interested in the genre. Soon afterward AML-list started, and I have been participating since the first month. I am not one to participate in the disucssions much, but I post a review or news item occasionally. Since 2000 I have posted a big Mormon Literature Year in Review post. I never got around to it this year, so I will do a two-year mega-version in December or so.
