November 14 Paul Rawlins
Winner of the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction, Paul Rawlins's first collection of short stories, No Lie Like Love, has been highly praised. Publisher's Weekly called the stories "impeccably crafted," and in Booklist Joanne Wilkinson wrote, ". . . filled with a yearning for the transforming power of love, these quiet, accomplished stories overflow with compassion." Other awards include four Utah Arts Council awards, first prize in the PRISM International short story competition, and an Association for Mormon Letters award for fiction. A graduate of BYU (BA, 1989; MA, 1992), Rawlins has published in such outstanding literary journals as Glimmer Train, Epoch, Western Humanities Review, and Irreantum. He has completed two new short story collections (The Small, Incessant Clamor of the Dead and Dreamsicle) and is finishing a young adult novel (The Uncertainty Principle). He works as an editor, free-lance writer, and creative writing instructor in Salt Lake City.
