This is our fourth semi-annual set of religious plays, the first in Provo Theatre Company space. I particularly love the plays in this set because they say less about how we ought to be--either in the sense of the ideal official church stuff often tries to show us or in the sense that many works highlight our weaknesses and call on us to change--and more about who we are. These plays show us with our shortcomings and in our struggles just to say "This is where we stand."
It's exciting to see young Mormon playwrights take that approach to depicting our own generation of Saints.

This show is really a must-see for local AMLers, and could actually be a good recruiting activity for the student chapter.

Admission is $5 and performances are:
Thursday, 10 April @ 7:30 pm
Friday, 11 April @ 6 pm and 9 pm
Saturday, 12 April @ 2:30 pm & 7:30 pm
Monday, 14 April @ 7:30 pm

Tickets can be reserved by emailing newplayproject@gmail.com and will also shortly be available through our website. Important note: we can only accept cash and checks at the door, so if you want to pay by credit card, you will need to do so in advance through our website.

Hope to see many of you there!

Let's have AML night at the New Play Project!

I'm proposing to go April 11th. Any chance of a talk-back after the 6:00 showing, James? And then those of us who would like could go out for ice cream after, or something. (Ideas?) I guess the actors would not be able to, though, because of the second performance. Other ideas? I could maybe do the 12th, if others would prefer it. Then we could go to dinner first. Anyone?

Actually, there won't be a talk-back after the 6:00 show because time is so tight before the 9:00 show. We are hoping to make some money this time around, which is why we're putting up the additional show, but we will lose the one talk-back session, which is sad...

We are offering a group discount for the Monday FHE show ($1 off every ticket in a group of 5 or more) if that's of interest to anyone. And there will be a talk-back after the Monday performance.

James and I both have pieces in this show; both of James' are pretty strong, IMO, and mine is actually quite short (a first for me, I know). There are also pieces by Ari Rivera, Ben Crowder, and Elizabeth Harris. I think it will be a good night.

Hope to see you all there!

Except for lack of talkback, Firday at 6 pm would be a great time to come b/c that's when we're most worried about attendance. ;) Saturday night and Monday are the most likely performances to sell out.

Well, since I didn't get any replies, I went down to NPP last night (Thursday). I was lucky and ran into Mahonri there, but sad not to see any of the rest of you. We'll try it again next time. I've posted a review of my experience under Reviews. But I recommend the experience to everyone.
