I'm a short, blonde, 54 year consumer of books (my family has a long history of reading while giving the baby a bottle). I've been a long time lurker in the AML list though my finest moment was when one of my posts was reprinted in Irreantum. I don't know when I became addicted to having people I've never met fill up my email account but I'm here trying to adjust to change.

The facts: I was born in Colorado to a ranching family. With the exception of 4 years in the 50's when my Dad went to BYU and we lived in Orem and my own BYU experience I have always lived in "The Mission Field". I spent my high school years in Wilsall, MT, which is so small that no one in Montana knows where it is. I've been married for 34 years to Jack. My Mormon ancestors converted to the church 5 to 7 generations ago depending on which line you follow so I did the gene pool a favor and married a 6 foot 8 inch convert. We have 3 daughters, 3 sons, 2 son-in-laws, 2 daughter-in-laws, 1 son-in-law to be, 5 living grandchildren and one more on the way. They are all spread over the United States. (All are tall and beautiful.) I live just south of Little Rock, AR where we moved when my husband's company relocated us 15 years ago. I don't feel Southern but I've lived here longer than I've ever lived anywhere else. My husband and I are about to become "empty nesters" as the baby is going to graduate from High School and we gave the cat away. Before Arkansas we lived for 20 years in southern California with some brief stops in Portland, OR and Tucson, AZ. I work for Manpower recruiting and placing people in temp to permanent jobs for a large factory in a tiny town where my 4 youngest children have gone to high school.

I write and draw childrens books - but so far just for my own family.

Welcome, Cathryn.

We only lived in Texas for two years, but I figure that gives us permission to say "y'all" and if you can say that, how much more Southern does anyone need to be?
