Since this is the official discussion board for AML, I think it would be a good idea to have a place where AML governance issues can be discussed. Many times on the old AML-List, issues like this would arise, but because the list itself and AML were somewhat separate, there was always the question of whether (and to what degree) discussions there would actually have an impact on the board and its decisions.
This is one area where I think that the existence of this discussion board can improve on the old situation. One concern that I, in particular, have as a long-distance member of AML is about just how and whether I can have input on issues related to the organization as a whole. I think there would be a lot more sense of involvement if there were more straw-polls and invitations to members to express their views on various items. Using a thread format such as this one would make it easier to see what the sense of the membership is over time--not just which voices (including mine) might have dominated the real-time email conversation.
I also think it might be a good idea to post the organization's bylaws somewhere. I know that in my years of membership, I don't think I've ever seen them. I notice that on the main AML website, there is a listing of the board members with contact links, and that's a good thing.

If there was interest by the AML Board in having such feedback, I bet it wouldn't be too difficult to build a polling mechanism into the boards. Sometimes people who wouldn't take the time or are too shy to post, will respond to a poll. And since you'd have to be logged in to actually vote, it would be representative of the AML membership (or at least representative of the members who have signed up for the discussion board).
