Kit Matthews has a wonderful life in Ventura, California. Her social life is active, her home life is predictable and that is the way she likes it. This way she doesn’t have to think about God or about the fact that her birth mother threw her away in a garbage can. Life is the way Kit wants it to be, uncomplicated. When her Dad gets a new job teaching at Utah State University, that all changes.

With the move to Utah she is dropped into a new culture with its own set of words and phrases. Kit feels very out of place and is experiencing major culture shock. As Kit begins to make friends with Janet, life starts to smoothe out. Then Janet’s older brother (Adam) the cutest boy EVER helps even more.

As Kit and Adam get to know each other and become closer, Kit is unsure of how Adam’s religion will impact their relationship. She begins to learn more about his faith and what he feels like he needs to do. Adam is preparing for a Mission and is hoping that Kit will support him in this time. Kit has a hard time understanding why Adam wants to go in the first place.

Adam is on his Mission and life falls into a pattern where life is comfortable for Kit again. She learns more about God and embraces the LDS faith. As life goes by and she waits for Adam, Kit is faced with the hardest trial of her life. Will she have the strength to rely on her faith and on God? Can she come to grips with the reality that someone important to her is gone from her life?

This book is a coming of age love story that shows how fragile faith can be and how important it is in life. Faith can be a great source of strength and comfort, when it is available. There is nothing as sweet as first enduring love and the way that love helps a person to grow and mature into a loving individual that is stronger than expected. This is a great book for closet romantic teenagers and their Moms. It was a quick read that was fun and fulfilling.
