Well, I'm out-classed on this board and intimidated. I'm also uncommonly old for the average age on this board but divorce has created the necessity of finding an income. My health precludes working and forced retirement from the long musical/performing career I had as a pianist and teacher about ten years ago. So... the Lord gave me writing. I think.
I love it and find that I can't stop doing it. Have no idea what I'm doing but can start a whole scene from one sentence - even a novella. The only background I have occurred in 1962 when I attended a short story writing class at BYU. Yes, that's how old I am!! The oddity for some like myself in writing is that I tend to usage of more proper English and words the average person needs a dictionary to understand.
My first novel - Safe in All Things - will be in the book stores some time this Fall through American Book Puslishing but it turns out that the marketing is up to this little ole lady. So, I'm learning that in addition to writing a good book, one also needs to be smart in business. In fact, perhaps, even cunning. As a musician I found that atsmophere competitive but was good on the business end also. However, the world of writing is literally "dog eat the shy cat early" business. Sorry, but I write with humor... And I'm a dog person. If I had said "Rotweiler eat the shy Poodle early" I might have choked to death.
Anyway, other than the music I've composed or arranged over the years and the CD I've produced, I have no real credentials, no accomplishments other than being published, no training, and, in fact, had never even been to Libby, Montana, the are about which I wrote the book! I now live in Libby after the twenty months of homelessness necessitated by my divorce two years ago.
I have a web site to which anyone can go if more information is desired -
www.mountainqueenpublishing.com. Other than that?
Uh... Hello!
